Poké Ball Plus failing to connect with Pokémon GO? Here's the fix!

The Poké Ball Plus is a new type of controller for Pokémon GO and Pokémon Let's Go. You can use it to automatically spin Poké Stops and catch Pokémon in Pokémon GO and literally use it as a controller with Pokémon Let's Go on Nintendo Switch. It's easy to set up and get started playing with it right away.

What happens, however, when the Poké Ball Plus you are so excited about doesn't connect to your Pokémon GO game? Don't worry. We've done some troubleshooting and have the answer. Here's how to fix syncing issues with Pokémon GO and your Poké Ball Plus.

Update your Pokémon GO app

For iOS users, you'll need to make sure that your device has the latest Pokémon GO update. Check the Updates tab in the App store.

For Andriod users, if you go to settings, then applications, you'll find the Pokémon GO app in your list of applications. When you tap on the app, it should give you the version number. If it is below 0.37.0, you'll need to go to the google store to update the app from there.

Make sure you connected correctly

When trying to connect to the Poké Ball Plus to Pokémon GO, you might find that the Poké Ball is not discoverable.

To rectify this, be sure to press the white button of the Poké Ball Plus while you're in the Settings menu of Pokémon GO before you go back to the game. After you press the white button, you should see your Poké Ball appear on the Settings screen. Tap it. Then, confirm that you want to connect your Poké Ball Plus to the game.

You can't use the Poké Ball Plus with two systems at once.

The Poké Ball Plus can only be connected to one system at a time. So it can either be connected with Pokémon GO or Pokémon Let's Go. So you'll need to unpair the Poké Ball Plus from your Nintendo Switch before it can be discovered in Pokémon GO (and vice-versa).

To unpair the Poké Ball Plus on your Nintendo Switch, press the Home button and reconnect to your Joy-Con controller.

To unpair the Poké Ball Plus in Pokémon GO, Tap the Poké Ball icon in the upper right corner of the game. When it's unpaired, the ball will be dimmed.

Make sure Location Services is turned on for Pokémon GO

If you have your privacy settings set to "Never" or "While Using the App" for Pokémon GO, the Poké Ball Plus will have trouble staying connected (or not connect at all). Make sure your location permissions are set to "Always" for Pokémon GO. Then, go back and tap the Poké Ball icon in the game or try reconnecting your Poké Ball Plus in the settings section.
